The NES controller can be turned into a really cool retro style belt buckle! This is an awesome project to do because its easy, and you get a great looking belt after! Making it does not require any knowledge of electrical circuits or soldering at all. I like this project, because the controller still works, so you can still press all the buttons! There is a detailed guide on how to make one, so I hope you try this project!

NES Belt - DIY Version
This is the DIY version of the NES Controller Belt buckle. Its very easy to do and looks really awesome when its done.

Step 1. Materials
1. NES Controller
2. Scissors
3. Liquid Nails
4. 2 90degree Metal Corner Brackets
5. 1 1" screw
6. Plyers
7. Metal Hanger
8. Hammer
9. Soldering Iron and Solder
10. Belt buckle compatible belt.

Step 2. Remove Cord From NES Controller
Take a screwdriver and open up the NES Controller.
Use scissors to cut the cord out of it from where it connects to circuit board.

Step 3. Cut the bottom section off of the hanger
Take plyers and make it look like this, by cutting off the bottom section.

Step 4. Bend the cut section into a square
Bend it like this. Make one side smaller if needed to fit belt right.
Make it on average 1 1/2" On each side, but belts are different. Make it fit yours.

Step 5. Connect the two ends
Make sure you precariously perch your soldering iron to provoke misfortune. But on the other hand.. use the solder on an acceptable heat, and just hold the wire and solder the ends. Use gloves if needed, metal gets very hot.
Use soldering iron and solder to make the ends of the wire connected.

Step 6. Drill a hole and insert screw.
Use a drill to drill a hole the size of the screw. Take a pair of plyers and break off the head of the screw and then thread it into the hole using the plyers.

Step 7. Get 2 corner brackets.
Get 2 brackets. Take a hammer and flatten these down to make the space in the middle where it was bent at originally thick enough to fit the wire in.
Get 2 corner brackets (90 degree pieces of metal with a screw/bolt hole on each side).

Step 8. Glue them on
Put the 2 flattened brackets on the NES with the wire underneathe, and put Liquid Nail underneath it to keep it there, as screws don't grab well in the circuit boards and stuff inside.

Step 9. Try it on!
Walk around the town, and have a good time. Have fun with your new...
